Jennifer Lawrence has declared that she finds it inappropriate suitable to comment publicly countering the Trump administration, concerned it could intensify polarizing arguments and further divisions within the United States.

Speaking with media, she shared, “Back in Trump’s initial term, I thought I was running around in a panicked state. But as we’ve learned, over multiple voting cycles, celebrities fail to influence at all on electoral choices.”

The actor went on, “Why continue? I’m just expressing personal views on something that’s going to worsen tensions that’s ripping the country apart.”

Changing Allegiances

Jennifer Lawrence has previously been open about voting for both Republican and Democratic candidates throughout her life. Growing up with a right-leaning family in her home state, she voted for John McCain in the 2008 election before joining the Democrats and stating she recognized during the Obama era that supporting the GOP was opposing her individual liberties as a woman.

Several years ago, she commented that a Trump victory would be “the end of the world” and publicly supported the Democratic candidate in the 2020 presidential race. In the latest campaign, she gave her endorsement to Kamala Harris, “because I believe she’s a strong contender and I trust that she will do whatever she can to protect reproductive rights.”

Although the director has disputed the story being understood as one of maternal mental health issues and psychosis, the actress shared that she did relate to aspects of her role’s experience after the birth of her youngest child, shortly after shooting ended.

“It was fear for my son,” she explained, “imagining every potential danger, and then questioning everything that I was attempting. I was seeing a therapist, but I started taking a medication called that medicine and I continued it for a short period and it really helped.”

Jennifer Lawrence also spoke of the freeing requirement of filming without clothes in the project while she was expecting and couldn’t work out.

“It’s refreshing,” she commented, regarding the need to abandon insecurities. “Truly, I do have moments where I’m like, How exactly do I differ between me and a prostitute? But it doesn’t trouble me deeply.”
