A female charged with stalking Kate McCann allegedly recorded her a recorded message which questioned: "what if I am Madeleine?"

The defendant, twenty-four, who court testimony revealed has consistently claimed she was the missing Madeleine McCann, and Karen Spragg are on trial accused with pursuing Kate and Gerry McCann between June 2022 and February 2025.

On Monday, the court heard call records and information recovered from phones recorded Ms Wandelt persistently asking Madeleine's mother for a biological test over 2023 and 2024.

Madeleine's vanishing in 2007 - when she was three years old during a vacation in Portugal - is among the most covered child disappearance cases and continues to be open.

'I Am Not Seeking Money'

One recorded message, played in court, recorded Ms Wandelt declaring: "I realize I'm heavy and plain like Madeleine was, but I feel what I feel."

While a separate message of Ms Wandelt's recordings with Mrs McCann's recording expressed: "What if there is a tiny probability that I am she? What happens next? Wouldn't that be significant for you?"

"I am not seeking money, I have a existence here in Poland, I only wish to know," the message continued.

The jury was advised that via emails, mobile messages and calls, Ms Wandelt requested a genetic test, transmitted youth pictures to her phone in a attempt to display a likeness to Mrs McCann's vanished daughter, and stated to have "memories" from a childhood with the McCanns.

Robert Jones, an intelligence analyst with law enforcement who collated the information, informed the court there "showed no any replies" from Mrs McCann.

Ms Wandelt furthermore contacted family friends of the McCanns, based on the call data.

On October 9th, 2024, Gerry McCann responded to a call from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, saying she had "incorrect contact information."

On that occasion Ms Wandelt deposited a message on Mrs McCann's answerphone declaring "I will persist and I plan to establish my point."

The court was informed the co-defendant developed a relationship online with Ms Wandelt before joining her on a appearance to the McCanns' residence in Leicestershire in that winter.

Communication data showed Mrs Spragg had reached out using communication app to Mrs McCann to say the press had portrayed Ms Wandelt as "a crazy person" but that she should be taken seriously in the period before the trip to that location, Leicestershire, in last December.
