🔗 Share this article The network's Leading Fresh Series of This Year Secures a Substantial Extension for Seasons 2 and 3. During the fall season, Adult Swim welcomed back its quirky hit, Smiling Friends. Yet, not long after, the channel launched a brand-new animated series with a distinctly unique tone. Haha, You Clowns emerged as sweet and soothing, in the spirit of a cartoon version of a laid-back talk show. During a period often defined by bleakness, this show's sincerity resonated deeply and helped it become a surprise hit. A Significant Investment On December 18th, the network revealed exciting news: Haha, You Clowns has been greenlit for a further two seasons. This gives creator Joe Cappa significant creative freedom to further explore the story of the Campbell family. The series focuses on three polite teenage brothers whose defining trait is their profound affection for their widowed father, with Cappa providing the voices for all four central characters. "I’m so grateful to the viewers of the show who gave *Haha, You Clowns* a chance and spread the word," said Cappa. "It's thrilling that I get to hang out at the Campbell household for seasons to come." Executive Acclaim The official statement also included commendation from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who described the series as "profoundly sincere and oddly captivating." He specifically highlighted the fans who embraced the show and advocated for its uniquely offbeat style. "All of you showed up for this new show, rooted for it on social media, and grew it week over week so we could greenlight not one, but two more seasons," commented Ouweleen. "As the show says: 'You are strong! You are loved!'" A Comforting Counterpoint Upon its debut, Haha, You Clowns was hailed as "a comforting antidote" to other adult animated fare. Viewers found something deeply soothing about observing this charming family navigate their simple existence. Previously, creator Joe Cappa expressed his desire to help comedy break out of its prevailing cynical streak. He attributed this trend to a broader media landscape. “There's this level of irony that we keep returning to,” noted Cappa. “The attitude is that we have to know we’re the smartest person in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for 10 years, and we need to laugh at something different now. Comedy has to evolve.” What Comes Next Now, with Haha, You Clowns set to continue, Cappa has the opportunity to catalyze that comedic shift. At a minimum, the renewal promises audiences additional episodes to experience the warm glow of the beloved Campbell clan. The final episode of Season 1 of Haha, You Clowns will premiere on December 21st. The complete first season is currently streaming on HBO Max.
