Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Released from Hospital in Lagos Following Fatal Road Accident

Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, Nigerian authorities announced on Wednesday evening. The 36-year-old was involved in a car accident near Lagos on the 29th of December, a tragic incident that claimed the lives of two of his team members.

Recovering from Minor Injuries

The sports star had remained in the hospital while recuperating from non-critical injuries, representatives confirmed on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on social media that Joshua was declared medically stable to continue his recovery at home.

“The boxer and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two friends who passed away as they were being prepared for repatriation,” the commissioner stated.

Remembering the Victims

Those who lost their lives were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. It was also noted that the athlete was heartbroken and deeply emotional over the passing of his two close friends.”

The news of his discharge follows the boxing community offered its support for the star in the wake of the devastating accident.
